This study aimed to analyze the influence of motivation on the performance of employees at Banco XYZ - Quelimane Branch in the period from 2020 to 2022. The study adopted a Mixed approach (qualitative and quantitative), with an applied and exploratory research design, based on a case study. Data was collected through semi-structured interviews and a questionnaire to a total of 16 participants chosen using the accessibility sampling criterion. After processing and discussing the results, it was concluded that in the period from 2020 to 2022 employees felt motivated mainly by recognition for good performance and the most significant aspect of this motivation was the implementation of training and development programs, an aspect also shared by managers. Employees also felt motivated by management support for professional development. The main suggestions were that employees should continue to take an active part in solving problems and finding solutions. Their involvement in the process is fundamental to maintaining high motivation and performance.
