The limbic system is a set of interconnected brain structures that play an important role in emotional regulation, memory and motivated behavior. The main structures include the hypothalamus, hippocampus, amygdala and other nearby areas.The limbic system is related to memory through the connection of the hippocampus with other parts of the brain, such as the amygdala and prefrontal cortex.
