This work deals with the theme of theatrical architecture and its typologies developed over time. Case studies were carried out prioritizing contemporary theatrical spaces, including the open community theater in Reutlingen, Germany and the Oficina theater in São Paulo; both have different proposals regarding the spatial relationship between stage and audience. The city of Juiz de Fora, where this work was carried out, is discussed and it is concluded that it needs a contemporary space to further develop the theatrical performing arts and all its benefits for the population's cultural leisure.

Livia Tavares Cosentino is an architect and urban planner and holds a master's degree in Built Environment from the Federal University of Juiz de Fora, Minas Gerais, Brazil. She works in Interior Design and Architecture. Her research focuses on theatrical architecture and sustainable building management.
