About the author
Prof. Sherine Farouk has been an academic leader for more than 25 years at various international universities in the UAE, UK and Egypt. She is the Associate Provost for academic projects & Internationalization, Associate Dean of the college of Business for enrollment and student success, and Academic Mentor for the sustainability club at Abu Dhabi University.
Prof. Sherine is currently working on various academic projects at Abu Dhabi University including global engagement, international accreditations, study abroad programs, and institutional academic ranking and reputation. She also leads projects on retention, enrollment management, and student success. She is also involved in numerous initiatives related to industry engagement, including MOUs, professional development programs, and other. Prior to joining ADU, she was a professor of accounting at the London School of Economics and the Arab Academy for Science and Technology. She has delivered more than 30 international training programs and has been involved in several international consulting projects in accounting, organizational performance and sustainability in the UAE, UK, France and Egypt. She was the director of the Undergraduate Research Program for several years and chaired several academic committees. Prof. Sherine has authored several highly ranked research papers and book chapters in the areas of accounting, sustainability, and innovation. She supervises doctoral students and is the main organizer of the ICOM and ICASF international conference, the largest in the UAE. She is also a member of the editorial boards of several academic journals
During her academic career, she has received several awards and honors from national and international institutions and has a wide range of social and community initiatives
Dr. Jacob Wood is currently the Associate Dean of Research for Singapore campus of James Cook University (JCU). In addition to this, he is also an Associate Professor of International Business at Singapore campus of James Cook University (JCU). With a PhD in International Studies majoring in International Trade, Dr. Wood has more than 10 year’s experience working in South Korea where he has held roles as an Assistant Professor at Korea University of Technology and Education and then more recently as an Assistant Professor of Asia Business at Chungnam National University. Dr. Wood specializes in the fields of international trade negotiation and the effect of non-tariff barriers on international trade flows. In addition to this, he published a series of international business studies on financial performance and social business adoption. He also has an interest in employee engagement and the important role it plays within a HRM context. His research has been published in a range of prominent international journal publications including the Journal of Cleaner Production, Transportation Research. Part D: Transport & Environment, Risk Management, World Economy, World Trade, Singapore Economic Review, Sustainability, Scientometrics, and the Journal of Asian-Pacific Economic Literature, amongst others.
Dr WANG Pengji is an Associate Professor in Business at James Cook University Singapore Campus. She obtained her PhD in Strategy and Policy at National University of Singapore. She has been teaching and doing research on digital marketing, sustainable marketing, strategy, and leadership of firms. She has published her research work in academic journals and books and served as the Associate Editor for Journal of Tropical Futures. She is also leading or involved in projects with various industry stakeholders, such as World Wildlife Fund, AustCham and Mandai group. Being an active researcher, Dr Wang has a strong methodological focus – she is well versed at employing different research methods (e.g., archival data, field survey and interview) and analytical approaches (e.g., Panel data regression, HLM, SEM, factor analysis, clustering analysis, and other quantitative approaches.) to address such issues. Her works have been published in Global Environmental Change, Journal of Business Research, International Business Review, Journal of Business Ethics, International Journal of Retail and Distribution Management, Journal of Cleaner Production, Corporate Governance: An International Review, etc
Dr. Hamad Odhabi is a distinguished academic and leader in the field of information systems and computing. He holds a Ph.D. from Brunel University, UK, where he developed the Java Iconic Visual Environment for Simulation Modeling (JIVESim). His educational background includes an MSc in Computer Simulation Modeling and a BSc in Physics.
With a career spanning over three decades, Dr. Odhabi has held significant leadership roles, including his current position as Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration at Abu Dhabi University. He has also served as Campus Director across multiple locations and Executive Dean of the Faculty of Computer Information Science and Applied Communications at the Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT) in the UAE.
Dr. Odhabi's contributions to education are noteworthy. He has led initiatives that significantly increased student enrollment and revenue, introduced innovative teaching methods, and secured international program accreditations. His work in software development includes designing simulation models and educational systems, contributing to advancements in technology and education.
He is an active member of several professional organizations, including IEEE Computer Society and ACM, and has published extensively in academic journals. Dr. Odhabi's commitment to advancing education and technology continues to impact the academic community positively.
Prof. Barry O’Mahony is an Interim Provost and Professor of Services Management and Dean of the College of Business at Abu Dhabi University. A recognized scholar in the development of complex service delivery models for government and luxury hotels, he has been widely consulted by Federal, State, and local government bodies, as well as the Police Force in the Australian State of Victoria. He holds an earned PhD in consumer culture from the University of Melbourne and has taught and/or managed programs in Australia, Europe, China (Hong Kong), the United States and the United Arab Emirates. Professor O’Mahony has expertise in academic governance, program development and accreditation, including as a Peer Review Team (PRT) member for the European Foundation for Management Development (EQUIS) and as an accreditation mentor, PRT chair and PRT team member for the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). His research has been published extensively in international journals and he has received several best paper awards for his work. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Hospitality, a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, and the recipient of the 2022 AACSB Beta Gamma Sigma Dean of the Year award.
Dr. Salam Abdallah is a Professor of Management Information Systems at Abu Dhabi University (ADU), United Arab Emirates (UAE). And is both a practitioner and an academician. He holds a Master’s in Industrial Engineering from the United Kingdom with a specialization in Computer Applications, and a PHD in Information Systems from Curtin University, Australia. He began his career as a self-employed Industrial Engineer and IT Consultant, providing services for organizations in the Middle East and Australia for over 15 years. He is active in the field of Information Systems and Operations Management research, with work published in international conferences and journals. The social, business, and human aspects of the digital world are key interests in his research. He is an author of book on Cultural Practices and Values in the Arab World and of over 30 scientific papers.
