The proposed theme aimed at providing qualified assistance to puerperal women was developed in order to show the progress of Brazilian health in the puerperal period in order to highlight the responsibility for controlling puerperal infection, as being an inherent role of health team professionals. This is a qualitative, exploratory approach, developed in a municipality in Bahia, with 5 puerperal women as subjects. As a result, this assistance should be based on attention to the needs of the puerperal women, aiming at care with body hygiene, emphasizing hand washing, natural childbirth, at the same time the nursing team should also carry out the appropriate asepsis procedures for proper control of Puerperal Infection.
