About the author

After studying English at Cambridge, Alex Martin taught at Sevenoaks School and then at Verona University in Italy. He has been a freelance author for the past 25 years, with 28 books published to date, including five for children, and several histories including Far Horizons, A History of the Air Squadron.
Emma Crichton-Miller is a writer and journalist. She writes about art, craft and design for the Financial Times and Apollo Magazine, among other publications. Her published books include the first monograph on Edmund de Waal (Phaidon, 2014), The Pottery of John Ward (Lund Humpries, 2022) and Force of Nature: The Art of Kate Malone (Skira Editore, 2024).
Dr Kimberley Chandler writes regularly about contemporary craft and design, and is an Exhibition Reviews Editor for The Journal of Modern Craft.
