About the author

Andreas Marks studierte ostasiatische Kunstgeschichte an der Universität Bonn und wurde an der Universität Leiden mit einer Dissertation in Japanologie zu Schauspielerdrucken des 19. Jahrhunderts promoviert. Von 2008 bis 2013 war Marks Direktor und Chefkurator des Clark Center for Japanese Art im kalifornischen Hanford. Seit 2013 ist er Mary Griggs Burke Curator of Japanese and Korean Art sowie Direktor des Clark Center for Japanese Art am Minneapolis Institute of Art.
