The concept of work is central to our lives and to our vision of society. Yet its meaning is very often reduced to the notion of employment. Work is therefore omnipresent in human life, in the sense that it is multidimensional, with philosophical, anthropological, economic, social and psychological implications. As a result, the act of working is associated with the idea of a result pursued, a production, an effort made to obtain a result. It's with this in mind that. Voltaire in Candide (Chapter 30) values work when he has the Turks say: "Work removes three great evils from us: boredom, vice and want". Individuals work because they find a definite interest in fulfilling their needs. This is how we shape the citizen of the 21st century. To this end, a triple question arises: What meaning do workers employed in Cameroon's public administrations give to their work? How satisfied are they? What is the link between the meaning of work and job satisfaction among Cameroonian public servants?
