About the author
Dr Tosti is Fredric Brandt Endowed Professor of Dermatology and Cutaneous Surgery at the University of Miami. She trained in Dermatology in Bologna, Italy, which is the oldest University in the world ,and was full Professor of Dermatology in Bologna before moving to Miami in 2010.
Dr Tosti is internationally recognized as an expert on hair and nail disorders. She was president of the European Nail Society and Council of Nail Disorders. She is regularly invited worldwide as a speaker and she has been directing sessions and symposia at the AAD, EADV and World Congress of Dermatology. She organized several meetings on diagnosis and treatment of hair and nail disorders in Italy including a very successful annual Course on hair, nail and cosmetics in Capri. She is editor in Chief of Skin Appendage Disorders. Dr Tosti has trained hundreds of dermatologists from around the world and is proud to say that many of them are today recognized as experts in hair and nail disorders.
Dr. Brian Morrison is a board-certified dermatologist with expertise in the areas of nail disease, nail surgery, global medicine, and graduate education. He received his undergraduate training at NYU School of Medicine and trained during residency at the University of Miami. He is an associate professor and the residency director for the Dr. Philip Frost Department of Dermatology and cutaneous surgery at the University of Miami. Dr. Morrison offers clinical services dedicated to the evaluation and treatment of nail disease, including nail surgery. As a residency director, he is deeply committed to teaching his students and residents, especially how to perform nail procedures. He is an invited national and international lecturer in the subject of nail disease with many publications in this area.
The main fields of Prof Lotti’s scientific research are focused on the study of neuropeptides and cytokines in numerous skin diseases, of plasminogen activators in autoimmune dermatoses, clinical aspects and treatment of psoriasis vulgaris with particular attention to new therapies with biological agents. Of particular relevance, his research and clinical experience on prevention and therapy in Dermatological Oncology, Vitiligo and Pigmentation Disorders, Psiconeuroendocrinoimmunology (PNEI), Covid-19, Clinical and Experimental Oncology, autoimmune and chronic inflammatory skin disorders.
He is the Founding Editor and Editor in Chief (1992-2002) of the JEADV, Editor in Chief of the Giornale Italiano di Dermatologia e Venereologia (2009-2011) and Associate Editor and finally Editor in Chief of Dermatologic Therapy (2014-2022). After 2022 Editor in Chief of the Journal of Applied Cosmetology. He has been President of the ESCAD (2003-2004), Secretary General and finally President of the ISD (1999-2011), President of the Società Italiana di Dermatologia e Venereologia (2009-2011). Co-founder and Executive Chair of the Vitiligo Research Foundation-NY, NY (2011-present) and President World Health Academy of Dermatology (2015-present)
