Dem Buchprojekt DI_GI_TA_LIS A Plant Scan Project von Achim Mohné liegt eine Performance des Medienkünstlers zugrunde, bei der Pflanzen mittels eines High-Tech-Verfahrens gescannt, ausgedruckt und schließlich als Pigment Print ausgestellt werden. Im Rahmen dieser künstlerischen Aktion verarbeiten Köche das pflanzliche Material zu veganen Gerichten und servieren es den Besuchern. Achim Mohné beschäftigt sich in seiner künstlerischen Arbeit mit der Funktion von Bildern, die er als Bindeglied sozialer, interdisziplinärer und intermedialer Handlungen versteht. Über die ästhetische Artikulation seiner fotobasierten Arbeiten verweist der Künstler auf ethisch-ökologische Themen der heutigen Umwelt- und Klimadebatte, der Ernährung, des Konsums und der Nachhaltigkeit. Achim Mohnés mediale Projekte positionieren sich im Umfeld digitaler Medien und Kommunikations-Technologien. In DI_GI_TA_LIS fügt sich das performative und bildnerische Werk in einen interdisziplinären Diskurs, der von Autoren aus dem Bereich der Philosophie, Kunstgeschichte, Sozialpsychologie, Medizin sowie der Medienwissenschaft entwickelt wird.
ACHIM MOHNÉ studierte Fotografie an der Folkwang Universität der Künste, Essen und postgradual bei Jürgen Klauke und Valie Export an der Kunsthochschule für Medien, Köln. Lehraufträge und Gastprofessuren u. a. Kunstakademie Münster; Folkwang Universität der Künste Essen; Indiana University, Bloomington. Von 2013 bis 2020 lehrte er Fotografie und Neue Medien an der ETH Zürich, wo er zuletzt die 3-D-Forschung leitete.
Summary
Achim Mohné’s DI_GI_TA_LIS A Plant Scan Project is a book project based on a performance by the media artist, in which a high-tech process is used to scan plants; the scans of the plants are then printed out and exhibited in the form of pigment prints. As part of this artistic activity, chefs turn the plants into vegan dishes and serve them to the visitors. In his art Mohné studies the function of pictures, which he regards as a connecting link in social, interdisciplinary, and intermedia activities. Via the aesthetic articulation of his photo-based works, the artist refers to ethical, ecological themes from today’s environmental and climate debates, as well as topics concerning nutrition, consumption, and sustainability. Mohné’s media projects are positioned in the field of digital media and communications technologies. In DI_GI_TA_LIS the performative work combine to create an interdisciplinary discourse, which is developed by authors from the fields of philosophy, art history, social psychology, medicine, and media studies.
ACHIM MOHNÉ (*1964, Aachen) studied photography at the Folkwang Universität der Künste in Essen and was a student of Jürgen Klauke’s and Valie Export’s at the Kunsthochschule für Medien in Cologne. He has taught at institutions such as the Kunstakademie Münster, the Folkwang Universität der Künste in Essen, and Indiana University in Bloomington. From 2013 to 2020 he has taught photography and new media at the ETH Zurich, where he headed up the 3-D research group.
