About the author
Professor Remzi Avci graduated from Uludag University Faculty of Medicine in 1986. After the residency period of ophthalmology at the same university, he completed his two years vitreoretinal fellowship study program in Radboud University Hospital as a fellow of Prof A.F Deutman. He was assigned as a professor in 2002 and he still works in the field of vitreoretinal surgery and medical retina. He is founder and director of Retina Eye Hospital Bursa-Turkey. Over the last two decades, he has been invited as a surgeon to various live surgery meetings and as a guest speaker to many national and international conferences including AAO Subspecialty Day, Frankfurt Retina Meeting and FLORetina Meeting.
He has repeatedly been awarded to the best surgery award in the field of vitreoretinal surgery innnational and international congresses. In addition, recently he was elected to the world retina honour list for the period 2020-2021 by the "Retina Hall of Fame", headquartered in New York, thus he took his place among the giants in retina history.
He is a member of many national and international associations, including Turkish Ophthalmological Association, Club Jules Gonin, American Academy of Ophthalmology, Euretina, FLORetina and Retina World Congress He has more than 100 articles published in peer-reviewed journals and authored many book chapters.
