About the author

Metadel Kassahun Abera, Ph.D, is an associate professor of chemical and Biochemical engineering at Bahir Dar Institute of Technology, Bahir Dar University, Ethiopia. He received his Ph.D. from KULeuven, Belgium, in 2014, an MS(R) in Biochemical Engineering & Biotechnology from India Institute of Technology, Delhi in 2007, and a BSc in Chemical Engineering from Bahir Dar University in 2004. Dr. Abera's primary duties as an associate professor are teaching and advising graduate students and participating in research and community-based projects. He is currently supervising and co-supervising 10 Ph.D. students, and has supervised and is supervising more than 20 MSc students. His research areas include modeling and postharvest handling of perishables, value addition of agriculture crops, and design, processing, and optimization of products. He has published over 40 papers in high-impact, reputable journals and conference proceedings. In addition to teaching and research activities, he has served in different administrative roles at Bahir Dar University, including faculty dean and department head. Notably, he has lead the accreditation process of the Chemical Engineering undergraduate program by the American Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology (ABET) successfully as the dean of the Faculty
Muluken Temesgen, Ph.D,  serves as an Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the Bahir Dar Institute of Technology, Bahir Dar University. He earned his Ph.D. in 2022 from this esteemed institution, where he also completed his M.Sc. in Sustainable Energy Engineering and B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering. In his role, Dr. Muluken teaches and mentors graduate students, while also engaging in impactful research and community initiatives. His research focuses on hydrokinetic turbines, computational studies of wind turbines, solar engineering, and simulations of solid-fluid interactions using OpenFOAM. With over 15 publications in high-impact journals and conference proceedings, he has made significant contributions to his field. Beyond teaching and research, he has taken on various administrative responsibilities, including serving as Research Director and  chair holder for  small-scale wind and hydro turbines research units. Additionally, he actively participates in community-oriented professional activities, which include manuscript reviewing, organizing conferences, editing academic books, and offering training and consultancy services
Ahmed Abide Tadesse, Ph.D, is currently the Chair of Industrial Design and Management Science under the Faculty of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering at Bahir Dar University, Ethiopia. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering from Bahir Dar University in 2010 and began working there as a Graduate Assistant. In 2012, he was promoted to Assistant Lecturer and later to Lecturer after completing a Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering, specializing in Production Engineering and Management, in 2015. In 2017, he started a Ph.D. program in Industrial and Systems Engineering at Bahir Dar University. Two years later, he joined a dual degree Ph.D. program in Industrial Management at NTUST, Taiwan, under the supervision of Prof. Kung-Jeng Wang and Prof. Chiuhsiang Joe Lin. completing it in December 2023. He presented his dissertation at Bahir Dar University on January 2025. Dr. Ahmed’s research focuses on Human-Robot Collaboration, Hidden Semi-Markov Models, Augmented Reality, and Human Factors Engineering.
Addis Aschenik Alaminie, Ph.D,   is an Assistant Professor of Hydrology at the Bahir Dar Institute of Technology, Bahir Dar University, Ethiopia. She earned her Ph.D. in Water Resource Engineering and Management from Bahir Dar Institute of Technology in 2024, an MSc in Meteorology Science in 2010, and a BSc in Applied Mathematics in 2007 from Arba Minch University. As an Assistant Professor, Dr. Addis's primary responsibilities includes teaching, mentoring graduate students, and engaging in both research and community-oriented projects. Her research expertise spans climate change impacts, water resource management, flood and drought prediction, watershed management, hydrological modelling, and precipitation dynamics. Dr. Addis has a publication record, with ten papers in high-impact, reputable journals and conference proceedings. She has also been the recipient of five international research grants and awards. Beyond her academic and research pursuits, Dr. Addis has held administrative roles, including serving as the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture at Woldia University, as Assistant Registrar and Vice Dean for Community Service and Technology Transfer at Bahir Dar Institute of Technology.
