This book corresponds to the master's dissertation that was carried out with the extension program "Música Viva: Valorização da Cidadania através da Música" at the Federal University of São João del-Rei. The study sought to analyze and understand how musicalization workshops can contribute to the development of children up to 2 years old. The public involved were babies in foster care at the "Amar é Simples" Home. The workshops took place in the shelter itself and the research sought to bring together Vigostki's perspective, based on the relationship between thought and speech, with authors who study musical development. The results showed that the signs of a possible musical organization are directly related to the development of higher functions, which involve skills such as: voluntary attention, sequential memory, logical organization, speech structuring, among others. Thus, it is suggested that before musical discourse matures, there is an elementary phase that concerns the psychological processes of the age group, which we call the genesis of musical discourse. The entire research procedure was supervised by Professor Dr. Larissa Medeiros Marinho dos Santos.
