The first Circassian language course available in English!West Circassian, also known as Adyghe, is a Northwest Caucasian language spoken by an estimated 500,000 people worldwide. The language is native to the North Caucasus region in Russia, but most speakers are in the diaspora in Turkey. Speakers can also be found in Jordan, Syria and Israel, where Circassians settled in the late 1800s. West Circassian is written in the Cyrillic script.

About the author
Larisa Tuptsokova is a native speaker of the Circassian language (Western dialect, Adyghe) and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Circassian Philology and Culture from the Adyghe State University, as well as a master's degree in Caucasian Languages. She worked as a journalist for Radio Liberty for several years, and now works as a journalist for Circassian Media, a Circassian media outlet. Tuptsokova also speaks Russian, Georgian, and spoken English. She is a translator and poet, as well as a specialist at the Circassian Cultural Center in Tbilisi, Georgia, where she resides.
