Rebuilt on the ruins of the castle between 1836 and 1842 by Friedrich Wilhelm IV under the direction of Berlin architect Carl Friedrich Schinkel. After several years of restoration work, the castle can now be visited in an unprecedented quality. Stolzenfels Castle can thus once again be experienced in the same way as once intended by Frederick William IV: as a romantic overall staging of castle, gardens, park and Rhine landscape. The illustrated book gives a marvellous impression of the former summer residence, the Prussian jewel on the Rhine.
