This volume showcases the work of the Hungarian-born photographer Martin Munkácsi (1896-1963). In 1928, he moved to Berlin, then, in 1936, to New York, where in the space of a few years he revolutionized fashion photography : his iconic imagery, pivoting on dynamism and speed, brought a new formal freedom and a sudden movement to the shots. Munkácsi was one of the most groundbreaking photographers of the 20th century, influencing and inspiring artists such as Richard Avedon and Henri Cartier-Bresson.
