In his first major solo exhibition in China, Peter Fischli is showing his latest work as a space-filling installation: "Vertigo Vinyl Floor Pattern I-III (2023-2024). The origin of the photos, taken in numerous cities around the world, remains unclear. As a floor work, they create a peculiar tension between alienation and admiration. Peter Fischli decided against a classic exhibition catalogue and, with the help of the graphic artist Teo Schifferli, arranged his work as an artist's book. With playful lightness, he creates an uncanny and at the same time curious view of city life with his series of pictures. The artist's book is accompanied by three essays written by Dunes Workshop, John Kelsey and Andreas Selg, as well as an excerpt from Hao Jingfang's successful science fiction novella "Folding Beijing".Text: Hao Jingfang, Dunes Workshop (Yalun Li, Feiyue Chen), John Kelsey, Andreas Selg.
