Rough Sea is a collection of poems that do not shy away from life's complexity. J.P. White's poems vividly portray the natural world as well as human society, both worlds full of cruelty and beauty. The poems show an openness to some of the bitter truths a mature person must realize, as well as an unflagging openness to amazement and delight. This is the work of a mature, highly skilled poet.

About the author

J.P. White is the author of six previous books of poems, and two novels. His 6th book, A Tree Becomes a Room, was a most recent winner of the White Pine Poetry Prize selected by Danusha Lemeris. He is the editor-at-large for Plant-Human Quarterly.
