Arthur Henry "Sarsfield" Ward, better known as Sax Rohmer, was an English novelist. His work Tales of Secret Egypt comprises twelve tales set in Egypt circa 1919. The first six involve the exploits of Neville Kernaby, a British citizen working for an import company whose business is perfectly legitimate and not at all smuggling artifacts out of Egypt. Kernaby's job causes him to be in some interesting situations with interesting people, and the most interesting is Abu Tabah. The mysterious Abu has great power in the government, appears everywhere at once, and is related some of the most influential people on the Nile.
to The other six are random stories set in Egypt. They usually involve a beautiful Muslim girl in trouble and a gullible young man.
