In this work, we carried out a literature review on the application of artificial intelligence in healthcare and its impact on medical and pharmaceutical practices, while specifying the challenges and issues associated with its use.In medicine, we presented the advances of artificial intelligence in medical imaging, including pelvic and thoracic ultrasound, as well as in the diagnosis of autism, depression and diabetic retinopathy. In addition, we examined the progress of algorithms in predicting serious diseases such as pancreatic cancer and COVID-19 mortality.In pharmaceuticals, we analyzed how artificial intelligence has revolutionized the discovery of new drugs, particularly antibiotics and innovative therapies in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. We presented tools for predicting the virus' protein structure, analyzing scientific publications and searching for potential treatments.
