This work is a re-reading of Michael Sandel's book 'Justice: what is it to do the right thing?'. It presents the views of Aristotle, Kant and Rawls, which will lead the philosophical study into the field of theories of justice. This is the Course Conclusion Work, which obtained the highest grade and was recommended for publication, under the guidance of Prof Dr Álvaro Oxley da Rocha. It is aimed at both the novice reader and the senior researcher, since the writing is intended to broaden philosophical wisdom and meditation. Sandel teaches at Harvard University and proposes that his students accompany him, with current events in his country, along with the classical philosophers he portrays. His proposal is pioneering in exposing various currents, with illustrations from everyday American life that are universal. Theories of justice seek to rethink the way we live in the search for a fairer society. Can politics be dissociated from religious and moral issues? Can the state interfere in the will of the individual? What is fair? His book addresses questions about morality and the law. 'Two things fill my soul with [...] admiration and respect [...]: the starry sky above me and the moral law within me' Kant.
