For Michel Foucault, the aesthetics of existence is necessarily linked to the idea of freedom and resistance. Composing a beautiful life would therefore mean resisting the strategies of the knowledge/power relationship. This book is the beginning of a vast field of analyses by the French philosopher. Greco-Roman culture becomes an important historical moment in terms of the diversity of practices of the self that would later be modified by Christianity and Cartesian philosophy. It is important to emphasise that this is not, as the philosopher himself warned us, an eulogy or an attempt to rescue Greco-Roman culture, but that we can learn from this historical moment in some way. About the author
Die Autorin hat einen Abschluss in Philosophie von der Bundesuniversität Ouro Preto und einen Master-Abschluss in Ästhetik und Kunstphilosophie von derselben Institution. Derzeit ist sie Dozentin am Bundesinstitut des Triângulo Mineiro, wo sie Philosophie und Soziologie unterrichtet.
