'Television as a Pedagogical Resource' has as its general objective the use of this mass medium in schools, and as specific objectives: The study of television language; The analysis of the history of Brazilian television; and the study of Brazilian educational television. In order to develop these objectives, we started with the historical process of television so that we could understand the popularity that TV has acquired and, at the same time, understand the phenomenon that it represents today. At the same time as delving into the historical past of this electronic medium, it was decided to provide some technical clarification of the evolutionary process. This presentation started with the emergence of the first ideas until we reached digital television. This return to the past was carried out both from a global perspective and at a Brazilian level, as well as in the specific case of our state of Ceará. The theoretical grounding sought through this study aims to contribute to a non-stereotypical view of television.
