About the author










Ahmed M. Abdel Aziz is Construction Management Associate Professor at the University of Washington (UW). For the last 20 years at UW, he offered teaching and training on several topics, including project planning and control, cost estimating for commercial and heavy civil projects, computer applications in construction, project economics, modeling the life-cycle cost of capital projects, quantitative risk analysis, and construction project management. Aziz holds the UW award and the honor of being a P. D. Koon Endowed Professor of Construction Management. Aziz worked as Project Analyst and Project Controls Engineer for a heavy civil company in Canada. Through consulting, he provides training for companies and national professional associations on construction project management, project planning and control, cost estimating, and Primavera and Microsoft Project for construction scheduling. Aziz is also known for his research on using the alternative project delivery system - public-private partnerships (P3) for the development of public infrastructure. He published in leading academic journals in the USA, Canada, and the UK on performance measurement, time and cost prediction using statistical analysis, liquidated damages in heavy civil projects, successful delivery of P3, P3 force-majeure and change-in-law risks, payment mechanisms, and unsolicited proposals. Aziz holds a doctoral degree in civil engineering in the area of construction engineering and management. He is also Associate Editor for the Canadian Journal of Civil Engineers.
