About the author

Robert F. Brown was Professor Emeritus of Philosophy at the University of Delaware. He is the editor of Hegel: Lectures on the History of Philosophy, published in three volumes by Oxford University Press. Brown graduated from DePauw University (BA) and Columbia University (PhD).

Peter C. Hodgson is Charles G. Finney Professor of Theology Emeritus, at Divinity School, Vanderbilt University. He is the series editor of Oxford Hegel Lectures. Hodgson studied for his AB degree at Princeton University and his BD degree at Yale Divinity School, and he completed his MA and PhD at Yale University.

Summary

This edition makes available an entirely new version of Hegel's lectures on the development and scope of world history. Volume II presents Hegel's surviving manuscripts of his introduction to the lectures and the full transcription of the second series of lectures (1830-31).
