Adapted sports are of great importance in the daily lives of people with physical disabilities and can make a positive contribution in various aspects, both physiological and psychological. Among the benefits that adapted sports bring to their practitioners are gains in quality of life, improvements in all their functional capacities and psycho-emotional gains. The aim of this study is to investigate the historical process of developing the sport of adapted table tennis in Goiânia, how financial investment has been made and to analyse the advances and obstacles since its creation.

About the author










Graduated in Physical Education from the Faculty of Physical Education and Dance at the Federal University of Goiás - FEFD/UFG. He worked as a wheelchair basketball and handball teacher in an extension project at the University, and has since begun his studies and research into adapted sports.
