About the author

Zhand Shakibi is an Associate of the IDEAS Institute at the London School of Economics and Political Science and a Visiting Professor of Russian Studies at the University of Tehran. His research focuses on modern Iranian history and modern Russian history and politics. Previous publications include Pahlavi Iran and the Politics of Occidentalism (2020), Khatami and Gorbachev: Politics of Change in the Islamic Republic of Iran and the USSR (2010).
