About the author

Fikret Yegül is Distinguished Professor of Architecture in the Department of History of Art and Architecture at the University of California at Santa Barbara. A member of the Sardis Archaeological Expedition since 1964, he is the author of Baths and Bathing in Classical Antiquity, which won the Alice D. Hitchcock Award from the Society of Architectural Historians, and, with Diane Favro, Roman Architecture and Urbanism, which won the American Association of Publisher's PROSE awards for Excellence in Art History and Reference Publishing.Diane Favro is Distinguished Research Professor of Architecture and Urban Design at the University of California at Los Angeles. She is the author of diverse publications on Roman built environment and was President of the Society of Architectural Historians and Samuel H. Kress Professor at CASVA.
