About the author
Kostas Demadis is currently a Professor of Chemistry at the Department of Chemistry, University of Crete, Greece. He is head of the Crystal Engineering, Growth & Design Laboratory delving into diverse fields of chemistry and chemical technology. His research group is involved in projects that embrace phosphonate and metal phosphonate chemistry (synthesis, characterization and applications of metal phosphonate materials), functional hybrid materials, silicon chemistry (modeling of biosilicification mechanisms), water treatment issues (mineral scale inhibition, corrosion control, metal ion absorption), controlled release of active pharmaceutical ingredients (in particular phosphonate-based drugs), and green chemistry and engineering. Professor Demadis has published over 220 papers in peer reviewed journals, 24 chapters in books, 8 books, and is the inventor of 2 patents.
