About the author

Angela Bowden, a celebrated African Nova Scotian author, eloquently threads her heritage into poignant narratives. A descendant of Black Loyalists settling in Birchtown, NS, her family's journey spans to Guysborough ending in her birthplace New Glasgow, NS. Angela embraces the roles of advocate, activist, poet, and healer, leveraging her scholarly focus on Women and Gender Studies to amplify Black women's voices in rural settings. Her poetry collection, UnSpoken Truth: unmuted and unfiltered, deeply resonates within the African Nova Scotian diaspora.
