Ms Nicola Milne, Primary Care Diabetes Specialist Nurse; Queen's Nurse; Brooklands and Northenden PCN, UK, and Ms Teffy Thomas, Advanced Clinical Practitioner in Diabetes; Clinical Lead for the Inpatient Diabetes Team, Manchester Royal Infirmary, UK

Nicola Milne is a co-author of the document 'Best Practice Diabetes Care within the Primary Care Network', and is currently working as the DiaST (Diabetes Support Lead) across a PCN in south Manchester. Valuing engagement and the sharing of good practice, Nicola has presented poster abstracts at PCDS, Diabetes UK and EASD Conferences and published many articles. Nicola who is a Queen's Nurse is also Co-Vice Chair of the Primary Care Diabetes and Obesity Society, a Diabetes UK Clinical champion and was Chair of the Diabetes UK Professional Conference Organising Committee for Liverpool 2019, and member of the NICE Diabetes Guidelines suite 2019-2020.

Teffy Thomas is the Clinical Lead for the Inpatient Diabetes Team at Manchester Royal Infirmary (MRI), and played an integral part in the delivery of GIRFT Project, IP3D (Peri Op Diabetes Improvement Project) at MRI in 2021. She has been involved in delivering services such as Diabetes Admissions Avoidance and Diabetes In-reach service. Teffy leads on various educational programmes across MRI for improving diabetes knowledge among various health care professionals. She successfully implemented an inpatient diabetes care bundle project within the Vascular Centre during 2022/23. In collaboration with the specialist podiatrist, she also co-developed the first Inpatient Diabetes Foot Risk Assessment Tool, which is now being utilized across MFT. Clinically, Teffy is currently delivering specialised diabetes clinics such as Rapid Access Diabetes clinic and Cardio Renal Metabolic clinic to reduce diabetes specific hospital admissions and cardiovascular complications.
