Cultural bases of the concern for honor - An explanation based on human values and personality traits

Concern for honor is a social phenomenon present in various historical moments and cultural contexts. While honor is a collectivist attribute, since it depends on society's judgment, it is also personal and depends on the individual notion of self that people have of themselves. The book aims to propose an explanatory model in which personality traits and human values explain the concern for honor. More specifically, to find out the personality and value profile of men and women from the capital and the interior of Roraima, to compare concern for honor according to gender and the context of the capital and interior cities, and to find out the correlates and predictors of concern for honor.

About the author

Während meines Psychologiestudiums an der Bundesuniversität von Roraima wurde ich durch die Unterdrückung der Sexualität durch die Gesellschaft angestachelt. Ich absolvierte einen Aufbaustudiengang in Psychologie und Sexualität an der Universität von Araraquara-SP und arbeite seitdem als klinische Psychologin, die Jugendliche, Erwachsene und Paare behandelt.
