The study, the baseline to know the population density of Quiscalus nicaraguensis in Nicaragua, was carried out from March to July 2020. For this purpose, transects were carried out in strips in different areas where colonies of this species are considered to be present (Mateare, Tipitapa, Tisma and Rivas).Quiscalus nicaraguensis, or Nicaraguan carrot-tyrant, is a binational endemic bird (Nicaragua and Costa Rica) that is in critical danger of extinction, according to the red list of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).This research will serve to lay the groundwork for future population studies and management plans for the species.
