Kerry and her son returned from Africa in early 2020, mere weeks before COVID radically changed everyone's daily lives. Kerry stopped her usual activities - working at her part-time job, seeing friends, doing laps at the local pool.... Because these routine distractions were unavailable, it was an opportunity for her to take scraps of notes about their trek and begin writing.
