Did you know that Julius Caesar entered Seville with the head of one of Pompey's sons, defeated in the decisive battle of Munda? That he planted a tree, a shade plane tree, in Cordoba? That Pompey was his son-in-law even though he was older than him? Julius Caesar, the name that designates one of the greatest strategists and politicians in history, continues to captivate modern generations despite the many centuries that have passed. This book delves into the complex figure of Caesar, presenting an accessible and captivating account of his military victories, his brilliant political rise and the many facets of his personality. From an informative approach not without rigor, the author shows us the vicissitudes of Caesar's life, addressing his unusual exploits in the Gallic War, his decisive role in the decline of the Roman Republic and his capacity for seduction in both the personal and political spheres. Far from the academic and solemn treatise, this book offers a rich and nuanced vision that invites the reader to reflect on the successes and contradictions of a man who shaped the history of the West. For those who wish to know the human being behind the myth, this work presents a unique opportunity to understand why Julius Caesar remains a capital figure, whose legacy still resonates in the politics and culture of our time.
