Mogens and Other Stories is a collection of short stories by Danish author Jens Peter Jacobsen, showcasing his pioneering use of naturalism and psychological insight. The title story, Mogens, follows a young man whose experiences with love and nature lead to a deep existential reflection. The collection captures moments of intense emotion and explores themes such as love, death, and the human connection to the natural world, all conveyed in Jacobsen's richly descriptive and lyrical prose.

About the author

Jens Peter Jacobsen (1847 - 1885) was a Danish novelist, poet and scientist, in Denmark often just written as "J. P. Jacobsen" (and pronounced "I. P. Jacobsen"). He began the naturalist movement in Danish literature and was a part of the Modern Breakthrough. Jacobsen's canon consists of two novels, seven short stories and one posthumous volume of poetry - small, but enough to place him as one of the most influential Danish writers.
