Occupational safety is an area that has grown a lot in recent years, mainly due to the collaboration of large and small companies, through the implementation of established laws and standards, with the aim of preventing and even eliminating work-related illnesses and accidents. But for this to be achieved, there is a long way to go, especially when it comes to the construction industry, which is one of the areas where the highest number of accidents occur at work, most of them due to human error, such as not using PPE (Personal Protective Equipment). With this in mind, the aim of this study is to analyse the safety conditions at work on construction sites in a small town in the Zona da Mata Mineira, using questionnaires applied to some of their employees. The results of this research show that most employees are aware of PPE, so they are not obliged to use it, and therefore most choose not to use it.
