This is a documentary study with a qualitative-quantitative approach, with the aim of investigating the syllabuses of the subject of Genetics in undergraduate Biological Sciences courses in the state of Goiás, by means of a mapping involving the Pedagogical Projects of the respective courses, with the aim of reflecting on the contributions that this subject brings to the training of future biology teachers for basic education. To this end, we analysed how the syllabuses of the genetics subjects in these courses are structured. Authors from the fields of genetics, genetics teaching and education were used as a theoretical basis for analysing the data collected. The results show that the syllabus is focussed on the specific contents of Genetics, without showing any concern for the teaching of Genetics. This can also be seen in the main works cited in the basic and complementary references.
