The essay "Zur französischen Klangästhetik der Traversflöte im 18. Jahrhundert" by Magdolna Slenker examines the sound aesthetic ideals and playing techniques of the transverse flute in France on the basis of historical flute schools by Jacques-Martin Hotteterre, Michel Corrette, Antoine Mahaut, Charles De Lusse and François Devienne. Flutist Magdolna Slenker discovered her love of the transverse flute and early music during her flute studies. Her fascination led her to write a treatise on French sound ideals of the 18th century in order to explore new aspects of sound.
