About the author

Bernd Growe (1950-1992) war von 1979 bis 1990 als Kunsthistoriker an der Justus-Liebig-Universität in Gießen tätig. Bei TASCHEN erschien seine Monografie über Edgar Degas.Christoph Heinrich studierte Kunstgeschichte, Neuere Deutsche Literatur, Theaterwissenschaften und Regie in München und Wien. Von 1994 bis 2007 war er an der Hamburger Kunsthalle tätig, u.a. als Kurator der Galerie der Gegenwart. Seit 2007 arbeitet Heinrich als Kurator für moderne und zeitgenössische Kunst am Denver Art Museum. Er ist zudem Autor zahlreicher Schriften zur Gegenwartskunst.Ingo F. Walther (1940–2007) wurde in Berlin geboren, studierte mittelalterliche Geschichte, Literatur und Kunstgeschichte in Frankfurt und München. Er veröffentlichte zahlreiche Bücher über die Kunst des Mittelalters sowie des 19. und 20. Jahrhunderts. Bei TASCHEN erschienen unter anderem Vincent van Gogh, Pablo Picasso, Kunst des 20. Jahrhunderts und Codices illustres.Matthias Arnold, geboren 1947, studierte Kunstgeschichte sowie klassische und christliche Archäologie in Göttingen, Marburg und Heidelberg. Er schrieb seine Doktorarbeit über Vincent van Gogh. Sein Spezialgebiet ist die europäische Kunst des 15. bis 17. sowie 19. und 20. Jahrhunderts. Heute lebt er als freischaffender Autor in München.Peter H. Feist (1928-2015) studierte Kunstgeschichte, Geschichte und Archäologie in Halle, wo er von 1952 bis 1958 als Assistent und Lehrbeauftragter arbeitete und 1958 promovierte. Anschließend war er an der Humboldt-Universität in Berlin tätig, bevor er von 1982 bis 1990 Direktor am Institut für Ästhetik und Kunstwissenschaften der Akademie der Wissenschaften der DDR in Berlin (Ost) war. Feist ist Autor zahlreicher Veröffentlichungen zur Kunstgeschichte und Kunsttheorie, bei TASCHEN erschienen seine Bände Pierre-Auguste Renoir und, als Ko-Autor, Impressionismus.
