This book 'Between reality and myth: the gaucho in TV drama' discusses a series of issues relating to the notion of reality, the formation and fixation of the imaginary, myth in today's world and identity. It seeks answers through bibliographical research and a case study in the field of qualitative research. To this end, the object of analysis is the journalistic texts in the specialised section TV+Show, produced by the newspaper Zero Hora, collected from 5 January to 27 April 2003, about the miniseries A Casa das Sete Mulheres, presented by Rede Globo de Televisão, which portrays the daily lives of the women in the family of General Bento Gonçalves da Silva, leader of the Farroupilha Revolution, fought between the Brazilian Empire and Rio Grande do Sul from 1835 to 1845.
