This book analyzes how major events such as the recent pandemic crisis, wars around the world and climate change, have affected agricultural production and the direct food supply. In this sense, human nutrition will never be off the agenda. The book provides information and guidelines for both practitioners and decision-makers about important developments in the use of agriculture, soil and water resources for agricultural purposes, including the effective and efficient use of soil and water resources where agricultural production, increasing water productivity, the use of modern technology and digitalization for this purpose. About the author

Öner Çetin is currently a Professor at the Department of Agricultural Structures and Irrigation, Faculty of Agriculture, Dicle University, Diyrabkır City of Turkiye. After completing his Ph.D. at Çukurova University, Adana, Turkiye, he has worked as a researcher on irrigation management in Soil and Water Research Institute under Ministry of Agriculture from 1988 to 2006. He started as an academic staff at Dicle University, Diyarbakır, Turkiye in 2006 and he continues at the same university.  
He has participated to the courses on irrigation for 4 months in Utah State University, USA, and advanced courses on irrigation and soil management for 2 months in Israel and 3 months in Australia. Meanwhile, he has joined to some international conferences, symposiums, seminars and short training courses in many different countries (about 60). He has given also some international lectures. He is an active author having contributed more than 120 papers. In addition, he is an author for 7 chapters and 3  books. He has completed 4 international conferences/workshops as a Chairman. Lastly, he has actively taught irrigation scheduling, irrigation water management, soil-water relations, fertigation, water productivity on training of farmers, agricultural technicians and engineers in national and international levels for long time. He is a member of the Irrigation Management Technical Committee of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, and a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Agricultural Strategy and Policy Development Center (TARPOL).
