"Slán Libh Boys'' is the story of the son of a British soldier who became one of Ireland's unsung heroes in its struggle for independence. After participating in the 1916 rising in county Galway he succeeded in escaping to the United States where he spent the next three and a half years. He returned to Ireland and played a central role in the war of independence. He was arrested after the surrender of the Four Courts. Liam Mellows was executed by the new Free State government in 1922. This book tells his story, often through the eyes of those whose lives were touched by one of Ireland's finest patriots.
