About the author
Florencia Ocampo grew up in contact with nature and developed an interest in wildlife and its conservation from a young age. She began birdwatching at 17 and soon travelled around Uruguay to learn about all of the native birds and their environments. Years later, she began her career as a biologist, becoming involved in research and conservation projects. Florencia also began working as a birdwatching guide, and after years of experience in the field, she founded her own birdwatching tourism company called Birding With Me, which she runs to this day, offering birdwatching tours throughout the country and also in the region.Rafael Tosi grew up in southwestern Uruguay. His interest in birds led to a master’s degree in zoology, studying the interactions between cowbirds and horneros. Rafael subsequently worked on several research projects and environmental impact assessments, spending long field hours studying Uruguayan wildlife. He now lives in the city of Colonia del Sacramento, where he runs his birding tour enterprise, Colonia Birding, showing visitors the wildlife of Uruguay.
