Throughout history, silver has been used to make various household utensils and objects of adornment. More recently, with the technical sophistication that has made it possible to create particles on a nanometre scale, the classic properties of this metal have been used in different materials. When coated with silver nanoparticles, inert materials such as textiles used to make clothes began to show optical, catalytic and microbicidal properties.
