Before the invention of photography and sound recordings, the living were left with only a few objects of the deceased: their scent impregnated in their clothing; their handwriting, if the person knew how to write; painted portraits, for those who could afford them. The voice is an extension of the body and the only part that cannot be buried: the voice remains intact and alters the sense of time, for it is condemned to remain in an eternal present.
