After his departure from Valparaíso and the disembarkation of the Liberating Expedition in the bay of Paracas on September 8, 1820, General José de San Martín went to the south and the north of the current region; arriving to Chincha Baja and Chincha Alta to proclaim the independence of the already occupied territories in the place called Balconcito, on September 23, 1820, to then go to the capital of the Viceroyalty of Peru, Lima, where he would proclaim the independence of Peru on July 28, 1821.Chincha, after the support given to the Liberator army, would receive the title of "Benemérita a la Patria" by means of law 11517 for contributing soldier to the liberating cause and to highlight sportsmen, writers, Afro-Peruvian dances, etc.

Born in Tintay, province of Aymaraes, Apurimac region, on September 22, 1963, I lived in the district of Sunampe, province of Chincha, Ica region, Peru. In Chincha Alta I did my primary and secondary studies. I did my higher education at the UNICA and today I am a Social Science Teacher at the John F. Kennedy High School in Chincha Alta.
