The aim of this book is to look at the three aspects of punishment, explaining the criminological, social and prison views, relating these concepts to the resocialisation of prisoners. Its central question is: 'Does the current prison system promote the resocialisation of prisoners?'. To answer this question, field research was carried out at the Agricultural Penal Colony, located in Palhoça-SC. The book tells the stories of the inmates who are imprisoned in the penitentiary system, bringing the reader closer to a reality that is so distant.
