After long being relegated to the background, the question of integration has been on the agenda in Africa for over three decades. This is because the union of states has become a real driver of economic development. There are currently two integration communities in Africa: OHADA and ZLECAf. Today, the Organization for the Harmonization of Business Law in Africa (OHADA), created in 1993 in Port-Louis, is working to standardize business law in Africa. This is achieved through the adoption of its various Uniform Acts, at Community level, in key areas of business law, notably commercial law and investment law. With a view to wider integration, the States of the African Union gave a major boost to the issue of integration by creating the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) in 2018. The two communities are working on huge codification projects to extend the integration and standardization of business law. But is this enough to deduce that OHADA is threatened by the advent of ZLECAf?
