Antiferromagnetic materials display significant potential for the development of low-power and ultrafast spintronic devices for logic, memory, and storage applications, potentially enabling low-power devices operating at THz frequencies. This book provides a succinct and comprehensive overview of recent developments in these materials. Antiferromagnetic Spintronics is broken into three sections, the first looking at theory and modelling, the second addressing synthesis and fabrication, and the third covering characterisation and validation. The chapters are written by international experts and discuss key developments and achievements, as well as future directions for further research. The book will be of interest to researchers in the field at both the junior and senior level.

About the author

Atsufumi Hirohata is a Professor in Nanoelectronics at the University of York, United Kingdom. His area of research covers spintronics and quantum nanoelectronics, with recent focus on the fabrication of a spin operator and nano-spin motor as well as growth of a half-metallic film.Rie Umetsu is a Professor in the Cooperative Research and Development Center for Advanced Materials at Tohoku University, Japan. Her research interests lie in half-metallic magnetic materials, ferromagnetic shape memory alloys, Mn-based antiferromagnetic materials, and large magnetostrictive materials.Peter Fischer is Senior Scientist and Principal Investigator in the Non-Equilibrium Magnetic Materials Program in the Material Sciences Division at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, Berkeley, United States. His research program is focused on the use of polarized synchrotron radiation for the study of fundamental problems in magnetism.
